Our story begins with the founding of Compost Montreal in 2007, introducing organic waste collection and consultation services to residents, businesses, and institutions throughout the city for the first time. Through our work with local universities and event organizers we recognized the importance of using compostable food packaging and serviceware to keep waste streams clean and capture the most organics possible.

In 2015, we launched Compostable.ca to make certified compostable packaging widely accessible for all. Today, we work with cafés, restaurants, retailers, event organizers, and institutions across Canada, helping minimize impacts with compostable packaging and waste management strategies.

We are a proud member of both the Compost Council of Canada (CCC) and the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI), and we maintain collaborations with researchers and composters across the country to stay ahead of the most current scientific and regulatory developments for compostable materials.

Our team shares a drive to create positive impacts for our communities and the environment. We continuously seek optimal outcomes for all stakeholders by developing cost-effective solutions that help slow climate change, improve resource use, optimize soil health, and circularize our food and waste systems.

It is our mission to provide individuals, businesses, and institutions with the tools they need to make best practice decisions and help build a sustainable future.
