NO ADDED PFAS
Perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are widely used chemicals that break down very slowly, persist in the environment, and have been linked to potential health risks in humans and animals. Products bearing this badge do not contain added PFAS.
TREE FREE
Products bearing this badge are made from alternative fibers that do not contribute to deforestation, including bamboo and sugarcane byproducts.
FSC CERTIFIED
Products are made with materials that support responsible forestry, ecosystem protection, indigenous rights and fair labor.
TUV HOME COMPOSTABLE
This certification ensures that the product disintegrates within 6 months and biodegrades within 12 months in home composting environments with lower and less controlled temperatures (20-30°C). The products undergo ecotoxicity testing to support high-quality compost, have been tested for heavy metals and hazardous substances and do not contain added PFAS. The products comply with the European standard EN 13432.
TUV INDUSTRIAL COMPOSTABLE
This certification guarantees that the product disintegrates and biodegrades within 6 months under industrial composting conditions (at temperatures of 55-60°C). The products undergo ecotoxicity testing to support high-quality compost, have been tested for heavy metals and hazardous substances and do not contain added PFAS. The products comply with the European standard EN 13432.
ABA HOME COMPOSTABLE
Certified by the Australasian Bioplastics Association (ABA), these products biodegrade and disintegrate in home composting environments with lower, less controlled temperatures and contain no added PFAS. A worm test ensures no toxic effects on earthworms or plants. The products meet Australian Standard AS 5810.
DIN CERTO INDUSTRIAL COMPOSTABLE
This certification guarantees that the product disintegrates and biodegrades within 6 months under industrial composting conditions (at temperatures of 55-60°C). The products undergo ecotoxicity testing to support high-quality compost, have been tested for heavy metals and hazardous substances and do not contain added PFAS. The products comply with the European standard EN 13432.
BNQ CERTIFIED
Certified by the Bureau de normalisation du Québec (BNQ), these products disintegrate and biodegrade in 6 months under industrial composting conditions. The products pass ecotoxicity tests and have no negative impact on the growth of plants or organisms and have been tested for heavy metals and other substances. The products meet international standards ISO 17088 and ISO 18606.
SEEDLING CERTIFIED
This certification is issued by third-party bodies including the Australasian Bioplastics Association (AS 4736), TÜV Austria (EN 13432) and DIN Certo (EN 13432). Products are tested to ensure disintegration and biodegradation within 6 months in industrial composting facilities, pass ecotoxicity and heavy metals tests and are free of added PFAS.
BPI CERTIFIED
This certification ensures that the product will disintegrate and biodegrade within 6 months under industrial composting conditions. Products undergo ecotoxicity testing to support high-quality compost, have been tested for heavy metals and hazardous substances, and do not contain added PFAS. Products meet North American standards ASTM D6400 or D6868, in line with Canada's strict heavy metal limits.
CMA CERTIFIED
Certified by the Compost Manufacturing Alliance (CMA), the products have been field tested in an industrial composting environment. In addition, the products are tested for disintegration and biodegradation within 6 months, pass ecotoxicity tests, and hazardous and heavy metal substances. The products meet North American ASTM D6400 or D6868 standards, although U.S. trace element limits are less stringent than Canadian standards.
ASTM TESTED
ASTM compostability standards ensure that products disintegrate and biodegrade properly in industrial composting facilities and have no negative impact on finished compost or plant growth. ASTM D6400 applies to bioplastics and ASTM D6868 applies to compostable materials with plastic or polymer coatings.
